Light stencils

The second technique develops this medium even further through the use of hand drawn and carved stencils (often inspired by 80’s pop culture) to capture light in a more controlled manner. The stencil is placed in a dark setting, illuminated section by section during the long exposure process and finally captured in one shot. The intense process behind these works incorporates highly technical drawing, photography and a scientific interaction between the stencil, light and camera that allows for chance and photographic interpretation to develop the image beyond the original drawing.
